Looking back to gain foresight

Have you ever felt a little stuck in life? You have the ideas but struggle to get the drive; the momentum. Or you have so many thoughts racing through your mind but you find yourself lacking the clarity of where to begin. And all the time the clock is ticking. Life might be passing you by..

Sometimes when I find myself in this type of situation I find it best to project myself forward into a distant time. I found a great tool, recommended by Julia Cameron in her book “The Artist’s Way”. It suggests that we should pretend we are 80 years old and write a letter to our current selves. Try it. It’s amazing what might come out! Feel free to share yours. Mine is below. 🙂

Letter from my sexy 80 year old self

Have faith in yourself. You are of the earth and have strength. Your emotions flow like water but water gives life. Try to breathe more easily. Worry less. Allow the Universe to enfold around you. She knows your path. Have faith. Take courage in how far you have already come. Reap your confidence and sow your wisdom. Ignite and continue the passion within. For you will be the only you passing this way and it will only happen once. Live each day, whether good or bad. Find a path to share your wisdom so as to empower the Universe.
